About the Manger:

First let me tell you about myself. My name is Krystal Buckler. I grew up and still live in Bear River, the Switzerland of Nova Scotia, with my husband and two cats, Screech and Nala. One of the most dramatic memories I will always have in my heart is the day that I married Matthew Buckler. We are both hard of hearing. We are both fluent in sign language and can communicate well with the use of hearing aids.

I attended public schools all my life, then went to Amherst to attend the Atlantic Technological Vocational Centre for the Deaf to study Data Entry in 1984, then graduated in 1986. It is also there that I learned to sign for a special reason. I wanted to communicate with my hearing impaired friends. In my spare time, I like to do a lot of crafts from stitch point to tole painting. I also enjoy meeting new friends. I began this business, because I felt there was a need for it, unique gifts and products for the hearing impaired.

Now, let me tell you about this company. Buckler’s Maritime Deaf Connection is a mail order business that can deliver specialty gifts and items to your home. These are all deaf related products at this time. The variety ranges from the tiniest thing, like a tack pin, to the heaviest, such as sign language books. We have the practical, such as hearing aid batteries, and the beautiful, such as stained glass. We work with Nova Scotian crafts people to develop original gifts for you.

Welcome to our first catalogue. We will be adding products regularly and welcome your suggestions and ideas for future editions. We look forward to serving you and growing together.

Now I will leave you to browse through this catalogue. Please share it with your friends and loved ones. I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you soon.

        Sincerely, Krystal Buckler, Manager
